Cataract and Laser Specialist

Dr. Mark Oberlander graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. He completed his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and went on to do an internship at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas in Galveston.

Dr. Oberlander was appointed chief resident of his ophthalmology program at the University of Texas where he was responsible for mentoring 12 residents at three hospitals.

After finishing his residency Dr. Oberlander practiced in Fort Myers, Florida with world-renowned cataract surgeon Dr. David Brown.

Dr. Oberlander joined Eye Associates of Pinellas in order to provide comprehensive eye care including cataract, refractive, and glaucoma laser surgeries, dry eye treatment, and evaluation of macular degeneration and diabetic eye problems. He is dedicated to providing his patients with a positive experience and the best possible surgical outcome.

Dr. Oberlander is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Florida Society of Ophthalmology, and the Tampa Bay Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Oberlander is a contributing author to the Clinical Eye Atlas textbook, and is also an active staff member of Bayfront Medical Center and Pasadena Surgery Center.

Dr. Oberlander provides exceptional care to ensure that each one of his patients receives excellent results. His experience and skill have been developed by performing over 18,000 successful cataract surgeries since 1996.

He continues to help patients become less dependent on glasses by specializing in custom lenses such as the ReSTOR® multifocal intraocular lens implant which helps patients see better without glasses for both near and far vision after cataract surgery. Dr. Oberlander also specializes in the placement of the TORIC® astigmatism-correcting intraocular lens implant. He performs laser limbal relaxing incisions to help correct corneal astigmatism using the newest technology of the femtosecond laser.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Oberlander has assisted in the training of visiting eye doctors from the University of Waterloo in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Oberlander enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid tennis player and photographer, and enjoys traveling with his family.
